Diatonic Triads : Major Scale
If triads in the root position are played ascending up the C major scale you may observe that on each scale degree either a minor, major or diminished triad are found. These collection of triads. are the starting point to select chords to harmonize a piece of music in the key of C major. Major harmony is ofter connected with ‘happier’, ‘calmer’ and more positive emotional feelings. The diatonic triads of C major are illustrated below.
