MERIDIANS

Meridians are specific keys and zones of the keyboard that are identified as optimum for certain functions and playing purposes.

i. Middle C. Often used to navigate keyboard and meridian ranges.

ii Bass Range E & A. Bass guitars lowest note is the lowest E natural on the keyboard. Generally when playing the function of a bass guitar, the upper limit is the A natural (two octaves below middle C).

iii The D & B line.  This meridian references where chord and voicing placement is optimal to be clearly played without being too ‘heavy’ or ‘light’, ‘muddy’ or ‘thin’.
